Physician and Author Andy Lazris Releases “January 6th and the Millennial Horde” — A Satirical Dystopian Take on Power, Pandemic, and Political Extremism
In his provocative new novel, “January 6th and the Millennial Horde,” physician and historian-in-training Andy Lazris explores an alternative America spiraling into chaos, where good intentions morph into tyrannical overreach and democracy teeters on the edge of collapse.
Lazris, a primary care and geriatrics physician with a history background from Brown University and a medical degree from Albert Einstein and the University of Virginia, is known for blending political satire and social commentary in bold, unexpected ways. This novel continues in that tradition, offering readers a dystopian reimagining of the aftermath of the Capitol insurrection and the COVID-19 era.
In “January 6th and the Millennial Horde,” Congressman Jim Depich and idealistic college student Mary Lou Kramer rise as champions of “truth” against what they label as anti-science, anti- democracy forces. Their aggressive response to COVID skepticism and the remnants of Trumpism unleashes a terrifying sequence of events—mock trials, mass executions, and even the nuclear devastation of nations—in the name of justice and progress.
Through razor-sharp satire, the novel features fictionalized versions of real-life figures—media icons, politicians, TV doctors—trapped in a whirlwind of righteousness gone rogue. The result is a frightening, funny, and all-too-plausible vision of what might have happened if power and moral panic merged unchecked.
Critically praised for its complexity and dark humor, the Seattle Book Review notes:
“I couldn’t get enough of the intricate, thrilling plot of ‘January 6th and the Millennial Horde.’ The book’s characters are the type you love and hate at the same time, which reflects the sort of duality that exists in a situation involving bad deeds carried out by well-meaning people. ‘January 6th and the Millennial Horde’ invites readers to question authority, reflect on the limits of virtue, and ask how far we’re willing to go to ‘fix’ a nation—before we break it entirely.”
