Channel 4 commissions Bonnie Blue documentary
The Bonnie Blue Story [W/T] is a Magnificent Pictures production, directed by Victoria Silver and edited by Kate Spankie. The Executive Producer is Mark Henderson and the commissioning editor for Channel 4 is Tim Hancock.
When Bonnie Blue announced she’d “bonked” over 1000 men in 12 hours, the internet exploded and the notorious content-creator received millions of outraged TikTok reactions, reams of scandalised tabloid coverage and multiple death threats. She also bagged herself millions of pounds, a jet-set lifestyle and a customised Ferrari.
What the internet didn’t know is that during that time, and across subsequent months, a TV crew were chronicling the period when Bonnie’s star went stratospheric. This resulting documentary goes behind the headlines, clickbait and ragebait to discover what life’s really like in Bonnie’s wild orbit, how she got here and what’s really going on behind those steely blue eyes.
The film sensitively explores the central question polarising debate about her: Is she a “dangerous predator”, pandering to male fantasies and perpetuating the patriarchy? Or an empowered, sex positive, businesswoman having the last laugh?
Bonnie first grabbed our attention with her homemade “Bonk me for free and let me film it” signs: having sex with ‘barely legal teens’, freshers and spring-breakers and uploading the footage for her paid subscribers. Her sex stunts with non-professionals have made her one of the world’s most successful Only Fans content creators, she claims to be raking in over $2 million a month.
Victoria Silver, Director: “Bonnie Blue refuses to conform to public opinion and lives life by her own rules. At a time when factual TV is awash with retrospective stories, I wanted to capture the energy of a live and evolving story, with a woman at the heart of it who’s living her life in such a bold way.”
Mark Henderson, Executive Producer: “Bonnie Blue is a story for our times, touching on our attitudes to sex, money, success, porn, feminism and masculinity. Vic’s insightful film will make you question what you think about this fascinating and divisive character.”
Tim Hancock, Channel 4 Commissioning Editor: “With incredible access to an unfolding story at the edges of modern morality, this documentary will take a clear-eyed look at a very contemporary phenomenon and will likely leave the audience questioning their own presumptions about one of this year’s most polarising figures.”
