  • Airbnb and Airbnb.org have invested a combined nearly $30 million in fire recovery efforts in Los Angeles.

Since the start of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Airbnb.org—a nonprofit founded by Airbnb that connects people to emergency housing in times of crisis—has played a critical role in helping house Angelenos who were displaced by the fires. To date, Airbnb.org has provided free emergency housing to more than 23,000 people impacted by the fires, and more than 600 people are still being housed today.

In a continued effort to do everything we can to support the Los Angeles community, Airbnb and Airbnb.org are proud to announce new commitments to advance ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts:

  • Airbnb.org will donate $16 million to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) to help rebuild and repair homes impacted  by the wildfires. This contribution will support Habitat LA’s ongoing work, including rebuilding new homes, home repairs, and smoke remediation.
  • Airbnb is also donating $1 million to local organizations leading ongoing recovery efforts to directly support their work, including the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Foundation, Neighborhood Housing Services of Los Angeles, and Brotherhood Crusade, among others.

“We’re deeply committed to helping the Los Angeles community as it continues to recover from the wildfires,” said Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb. “The journey to rebuild is still in its early stages, and we hope these additional commitments make it clear that Airbnb is here for the long haul.”

Airbnb.org is proud to have housed more than 23,000 people impacted by the devastating fires in Los Angeles,” said Christoph Gorder, Executive Director of Airbnb.org. “We’re committed to supporting the communities impacted by this disaster and are expanding our investment by funding Habitat LA’s critical work.”

“We are deeply honored and grateful for this transformative $16 million gift in support of Habitat LA’s ReBUILD LA campaign,” said Erin Rank, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. “This extraordinary investment will allow us to scale our efforts significantly, repairing and rebuilding homes for wildfire survivors and families in need across Los Angeles. With this support, we can bring renewed hope, safety, and stability to communities that have faced devastating loss. Each home we build or repair represents a family’s future, and thanks to this generous contribution, that future just became a lot brighter for so many.”

“Airbnb’s support of our Los Angeles firefighters reflects a belief in their essential, life-saving work, especially in times of crisis,” said  Liz Lin, President of the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. “During the 2025 January wildfires, the LAFD Foundation’s mission to bridge the gap between what the city funds and what firefighters need became more amplified than ever. Thanks to Airbnb’s contribution, we can continue to equip our firefighters with the tools they need to protect our communities and keep us all safe.”

“Neighborhood Housing Services (NHS) of Los Angeles County is grateful for Airbnb’s continued partnership over the years. Their recent contribution to our wildfire recovery efforts reflects Airbnb’s commitment to help survivors since the beginning of the wildfire emergency,” said Lori Gay, President and CEO of NHS of Los Angeles County. “The funding has helped stabilize displaced households and will continue to aid in the rebuilding of our beloved communities.”

“Brotherhood Crusade is incredibly grateful for Airbnb’s continued support and commitment to Los Angeles,” said Charisse Bremond, CEO of Brotherhood Crusade. “For over 57 years, we’ve been dedicated to improving the quality of life for Angelenos and working to meet the needs of low-income and underserved communities, including those that have suffered devastating losses to the wildfires. Airbnb’s donation will directly support our work and help provide immediate assistance to those that need it most.”

All told, Airbnb and Airbnb.org have invested a combined nearly $30 million toward fire relief and recovery efforts in Los Angeles.

  • $28 million in housing support for Angelenos: Airbnb.org has committed nearly $28 million to provide housing support for people impacted by the wildfires, including its donation to Habitat for Humanity LA. This commitment includes a $10 million contribution from Airbnb and a $6 million contribution from Co-Founder and CEO Brian Chesky.
  • $2 million to support local organizations on the front lines:  In addition to the $1 million to local organizations supporting ongoing recovery and rebuilding efforts, Airbnb previously contributed $1 million in Airbnb credits to the LA County Federation of Labor to provide free stays to union members who have been displaced by the fires.

About Airbnb.org

Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating temporary stays for people in times of crisis around the world. Airbnb.org operates independently and leverages Airbnb, Inc.’s technology, services, and other resources at no charge to carry out Airbnb.org’s charitable purpose. The inspiration for Airbnb.org began in 2012 with a single host named Shell who opened up her home to people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This sparked a movement and marked the beginning of a program that allows hosts on Airbnb to provide stays for people in times of need. Since then, the program has evolved to focus on emergency response and to help provide stays to evacuees, relief workers, refugees, asylum seekers, and frontline workers fighting the spread of COVID-19. Since then, hosts have offered to open up their homes and helped provide accommodations to 100,000 people in times of need. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org supported stays on its platform.
