Flow Festival and Tietoevry Create bring accessible digital services to festival attendees

Flow Festival, in collaboration with Tietoevry Create, is building an accessible festival experience for everyone, where the physical and digital worlds go hand in hand. At the heart of the partnership between Flow and Tietoevry Create are the festival’s website and mobile application. This year, accessibility aspects have been particularly taken into account in the development work.

“Our goal is to develop an application for Flow Festival that ensures accessibility for all visitors and operates smoothly throughout the festival. This year, the application development covers the aspect of accessibility even more comprehensively. Our diverse team brought unique experience to this effort. The application has been designed to better accommodate changing conditions that may affect the use of services, as well as individuals with various limitations. For example, we ensure that the content and functions of the service are clearly distinguishable even in bright sunlight by using clear and highly contrasting colors,” says Maria Vepsäläinen, Customer Director at Tietoevry Create.

“Our collaboration is truly multifaceted, and we greatly value Tietoevry Create’s expertise related to our digital services. The ongoing partnership for the third year allows us to continuously develop and deepen our collaboration,” explains Vilja Grotenfelt, Head of Sales and Marketing at Flow Festival.

Additionally, Tietoevry Create has developed an ecological footprint budgeting tool in collaboration with Flow, which helps event organizers assess material and carbon footprints. In practice, the service aids in measuring the overall environmental impact of the event and guides making informed decisions to reduce impacts right from the planning stage.

“We have been Flow’s technology partner for the past three years. Our collaboration emphasizes innovation, creativity, responsibility, and diversity, which are shared values for us,” Vepsäläinen elaborates on the background of the partnership.

During the weekend, Tietoevry Create will also host a Flow Talks discussion and incorporate Futures School into Flow Festivals Family Sunday program.

Futures School is a pioneering initiative in future education that has received awards both in Finland and internationally. It provides children and young people with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to understand the future and the courage to influence it through their own choices. Tietoevry is a longtime partner of the Children and Youth Foundation’s Futures School.
