Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Naperville

Author Mary Kubica to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 9AM on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025

Naperville, IL – WEBWIRE

Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Naperville, IL bookstore on Wednesday, April 23rd in the former Pottery Barn space (9 Jackson Ave, Naperville, IL 60540), just up the street from its former location.

The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 9AM CST on Wednesday the 23rd, with bestselling author Mary Kubica cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her latest release She’s Not Sorry.

The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller.

“We are very happy to return to Naperville, where for 25 years we were a community staple,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “Our longtime booksellers are as eager to be back in town as they are to welcome customers into their brand-new Naperville Barnes & Noble.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.

The Naperville location is one of four new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in April, alongside new stores in Florida, Nebraska, and New York. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.

“I feel privileged to be part of the team that brings Barnes & Noble back to Naperville,” said Store Manager John Crum, Barnes & Noble Bookseller of twenty years. “It’s an honor to serve our community in this way.”
