Memoir of Matador-Turned-Missionary Salvatore Miliziano Set for Exhibit at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025
Throughout his long life, Salvatore Miliziano has been in pursuit of something. First, it was a dream to visit Israel, the birthplace of Christianity. Then, it was becoming a matador in Spain. But now, at over 90 years of age, he is pursuing a calling to simply share his truth as a missionary to the world. To that end, he wrote his autobiography and successfully published it with the full intent of having it promoted at various events, including the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2025.
“Sal Malziano’s book is surprisingly entertaining – as they say, a “great read.” A legitimate page-turner, with so many colorful details, you feel you’re living his life with him and you don’t want it to end. When I finally put the book down, I felt I read about a member of my family and rejoiced in his deep and enthusiastic relationship with God. Isn’t that what we all want? I do.” – Pat Boone
In 2012, after celebrating his 70th birthday, Salvatore Miliziano visited Israel and fulfilled a lifelong dream of seeing the birthplace of Christianity.
At that point, he had lived quite a colorful life with plenty of achievements, with the most memorable being the years he had spent fulfilling his other dream of becoming a matador in Spain. Despite this, his one trip to Israel became a fateful one. He fell “deeply in love with Israel and the Jewish people” and decided to become an ordained missionary with the Assemblies of God.
Ten years after that, he decided it was time to share the story of his life via an autobiography titled “From Matador to Missionary: A Life’s Journey toward Seeking the Truth” as part of his calling to spread his greatly renewed faith.
“From Matador to Missionary: A Life’s Journey toward Seeking the Truth” is more than just about him. He starts off by sharing stories about God’s Providence, which is already at work in the lives of his parents and even his grandparents. Now over 80 years old, he has seen this Providence continue to touch his life, assuring him that God still has plans for it to this very day.
Salvatore Miliziano’s “From Matador to Missionary: A Life’s Journey toward Seeking the Truth” is scheduled for an exhibit at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, which will be held on April 26-27, 2025, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. Festival goers can find the book displayed at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at booth #225. Copies of the book are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Author Bio
Sal Miliziano is a follower of Jesus Christ. He never had a desire to write a book until at the age of seventy, when he visited Israel. Since he became a Christian at age eleven, it was his lifelong desire to see where Christianity began, and it was there, in Israel, that Providence took over. He fell deeply in love with Israel and with the Jewish people and became a Zionist, an “adopted Gentile-Jew” into the family of God’s chosen people. In July of 2022, he was ordained in the Assemblies of God as an Emissary (Missionary in Messianic Ministry).
Like the song in the movie Exodus says, “This land is mine / God gave this land to me,” Sal believes that because of Abraham’s deep faith in God, the land of Israel and the Jewish people were “chosen” by God to bring His Word, the Torah, the Tanakh, and the Brit Hadassah (New Testament) into the world.
Sal’s passion is to see Jewish and Gentile people discover and accept God’s perfect gift of salvation through Jesus, the Promised Messiah. He has been married to his wife, Carole, for fifty-six years and they live in Delran, New Jersey. They have a son and a daughter and two grandchildren.
