Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur Hosts Third Terry Fox Fun Run to Raise Funds for Cancer Research in Malaysia on May 18, 2025

It is time to mark the calendar once again, with Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur set to host its third official Terry Fox Fun Run on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 7:00 am. Drawing inspiration from Terry’s courageous spirit and his vision of a cancer-free world, the Hotel invites participants of all ages to join the run in support of Cancer Research Malaysia.

“We’re privileged to lead this important event for the third consecutive year and help raise funds for cancer research in the local community,” says Nelson Hilton, Regional Commercial Director. “We welcome everyone to join the event at their own pace – you can run, jog or walk to the finish line. Like last year, we hope to see families, friends and colleagues come together in support of this worthy cause.”

Last year’s Terry Fox Fun Run in Kuala Lumpur raised over MYR 43,331.30 – and the team hopes to surpass that number this year. Whether participating or cheering from the sidelines, everyone is encouraged to buy a Terry Fox Run t-shirt via the Hotel website. 100 percent of the funds raised will go to Cancer Research Malaysia.

The five-kilometre run will take place along DBKL’s Sunday morning car-free route, with the start and finish point at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Several team members from the Hotel will also be participating in the event.

The history of the Terry Fox Run goes back to 1980, when 22-year-old Terry Fox, who lost his leg to bone cancer, ran 5,374 kilometres across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. Through rain, snow and heat, he continued his Marathon of Hope until he was forced to stop because cancer appeared in his lungs. He passed away the following year, but not before raising CAD 24 million for the cause.

In honour of Terry’s legacy, Four Seasons founder Isadore Sharp worked closely with several sponsors to organise the first-ever Terry Fox Run in 1981, drawing more than 300,000 participants. Today, more than 12,000 Terry Fox Memorial Runs take place around the world annually, supported by Four Seasons in several locations.

The third official Terry Fox Fun Run will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025. The event starts at 7:00 am at Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Participants can register here or scan the QR code below.
