Scandic Go expanding in Sweden with two new hotels

Scandic has signed two long-term lease agreements with property owner JV Nordväst Fastighet AB to take over two hotels in Helsingborg and Jönköping that together have 199 rooms. The hotels will undergo comprehensive renovations and will be adapted to Scandic’s new brand before opening during the first half of 2026.

Interest in Scandic Go is high, and during 2024, Scandic has increased the pace of establishing hotels under the new brand. In July, the company announced that it would open two new hotels in Gothenburg and Umeå. Including the two hotel takeovers in Helsingborg and Jönköping, the company’s pipeline for Scandic Go now comprises six hotels with a total of 851 rooms in Sweden and Finland.

By taking over hotels or converting office space in destinations where market share in the economy segment is low, the company can accelerate the rate of establishing Scandic Go hotels. The new hotels are existing hotels that Scandic will take over, and they have central locations at destinations where demand from business and leisure travelers is expected to increase.

- Helsingborg and Jönköping are important economic centers and hubs in Sweden, and our new hotels are ideally located in both cities. Establishing Scandic Go in Helsingborg and Jönköping will complement our existing hotel offering and strengthen Scandic’s market position at each location. I look forward to continuing to grow Scandic Go in Sweden, as well as in the rest of the Nordic countries and Germany, says Jens Mathiesen, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels Group.

Scandic Go, Helsingborg, 96 rooms
With its proximity to Denmark, Helsingborg is an important hub for southern Sweden and a destination where both commerce and the population are growing. The hotel is centrally located about 500 meters from Helsingborg’s central station and ferry connections to Helsingør. The hotel will have 96 rooms and will be certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, the official environmental certification in the Nordic countries, after it opens.

Scandic Go, Jönköping, 103 rooms
Jönköping is a diversified economic center in Sweden that attracts tourism as well as major meetings and events. The hotel has 103 rooms, and with its central location in the city center, guests will enjoy easy access to the city’s entertainment options and attractions in the region. It will also be certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, after it opens.

- Scandic Go is growing with good momentum. We’re continuing to attract established property partners that recognize the strength of entering long-term lease agreements with Scandic. I feel very confident that our new brand will open new opportunities for our partners. This is enabling us to expand Scandic Go at many destinations with relatively short lead times, says Peter Jangbratt, Managing Director, Sweden at Scandic Hotels.

After the hotels open, Scandic will operate three hotels with a total of 520 rooms in Helsingborg. In Jönköping, Scandic’s total capacity after opening the new Scandic Go in the city will be three hotels with a total of 593 rooms.
