Digidesign Enters the Professional Reference Speaker Market and Offers a Technology Preview of Upcoming Pro Tools Capabilities at NAB 2007

Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID) today announced that its Digidesign audio division has unveiled a new family of high-end studio reference monitor speakers that will mark the company’s entry into the professional speaker market. Digidesign is also previewing the powerful new Video Satellite HD Option that is planned to be supported in an upcoming release of its industry-standard Pro Tools® software.

Pro Tools Technology Preview and Video Satellite HD Option
While future versions of Pro Tools software will offer new functionality for both music production and post production professionals, Digidesign is using the NAB show to underscore an ongoing commitment to improving interoperability and networking capabilities with Avid® video production systems.

Headlining the Pro Tools technology preview is support for the new Video Satellite HD Option. This allows Pro Tools HD users to work with full resolution HD Avid video compositions with real time transitions and effects, while enjoying full track count and uncompromised mixing and processing performance.

Digidesign Reference Monitor Series (RMS) Speakers
The Digidesign RMS professional studio reference monitors are available in two sizes – RM1 is a 5.5-inch two-way speaker and RM2 is a 6.5-inch two-way speaker. Developed jointly with world-leading PMC, Ltd (based in the UK), the RMS speakers unite Digidesign’s deep expertise in digital audio with PMC’s legacy for fine, cutting-edge loudspeaker designs and meticulous manufacturing.
