BBC Radio 5 Live is making some changes to its schedule and presenter line-up starting from December.

Weekend mornings are set for a shake up, as former Olympian Jeanette Kwakye MBE steps into the spotlight to present the weekend breakfast programme alongside Eleanor Oldroyd on Saturdays and Gordon Smart on Sundays.

Fresh from presenting the BBC’s Paris Olympics coverage, Jeanette brings her wealth of broadcasting experience to Weekend Breakfast, having regularly presented 5 Live Breakfast, Drive and Sport programmes.

Regular Weekend Breakfast host, Eleanor Oldroyd, remains as co-host on Saturdays but has decided to take a step back from Sundays, making way for Gordon Smart, who is moving from weeknights to co-host alongside Jeanette on Sundays. Gordon will also regularly present across the 5 Live schedule as well as other BBC programmes.

For 5 Live Drive, Clare McDonnell continues to take audiences through their late afternoons from 4-7pm and will be joined by the presenter, Chris Warburton.

Chris, who has been co-hosting Weekend Breakfast for 10 years, will join Clare on the airwaves throughout the week to deliver the perfect mix of news, sport, and entertaining discussion as listeners make their way home.

After a decade presenting Drive, Tony Livesey is moving to the late evening show, weeknights 10pm-1am. He is returning to the time-slot where he started his 5 Live career and will help to bring audiences all the news, conversation and companionship they need to unwind at the end of the day.

Heidi Dawson, Controller of BBC 5 Live, said: “It’s fantastic to be welcoming Jeanette in to the 5 Live family. After an outstanding year of big impact events, from the election, Euros football and Olympic Games, 5 Live continues to be the voice of the UK, and our brilliant new schedule line up will continue to bring people together for the country’s biggest moments.”

These changes reflect BBC Radio 5 Live’s commitment to bringing listeners the very best live coverage of news, sport, and entertaining conversation across the day.
