Amber Lenore Weaver’s Vivid and Visceral Fictionalization of Life as a Death-Care Worker Set to Showcase at Guadalajara International Book Fair

For book lovers in the Americas, the Guadalajara International Book Fair is an ideal space for discovering books that test new ideas and innovative plot twists or further expound on niche topics. It’s certainly why Amber Lenore Weaver is set to exhibit her book, which features the hushed and heavy topic of life in funeral services. The book, “Into the Hands of Strangers,” follows a female embalmer as she struggles with tired, old workplace attitudes along with all the dead people.

San Diego, CA – WEBWIRE

“A blunt yet incisive vivisection into the mind of a death-care worker that strives to go above cheap gallows humor.”

Unlike other massive publishing events, the Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), has a strong emphasis on being a large cultural event as much as a major business one. This has made it particularly attractive for novelists who want to put a new spin on popular genres, explore more niche ideas, or broach more challenging topics.

Those definitely tick off a lot of boxes for Amber Lenore Weaver, an author whose writing and background vividly reflect her previous professional career as a funeral director as well as lead investigator for California’s Cemetery and Funeral Bureau.

The title of her book is “Into The Hands of Strangers: An Autopsy Embalmer’s Tale,” which follows the story of Louise. After years of hard work, she is now a more accomplished embalmer. She is now also the first-ever woman hired as her county’s forensic autopsy assistant.

Yet, even as she had long braced the grim, solemn, and undoubtedly messy morgue work in her field, it hasn’t stopped even worse things from the still living. These include a vivid, point-by-point description of her daily routine, as well as other prevailing issues like workplace sexism.

“Into The Hands of Strangers: An Autopsy Embalmer’s Tale” is a blend of topics that is both very real yet still surreal. So, for readers who want a dramatic yet true-to-life tale of those working with the dead, they can check out “Into the Hands of Strangers” during the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair.

The book will be displayed at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at stands GG40 and GG42. The book fair will be held from November 30 to December 8, 2024, at the Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Colonia Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. ReadersMagnet will be exhibiting until December 4. Amber Lenore Weaver’s book is available on Amazon.
