Poetry-Loving Professor Subhranil De Set to Exhibit Poetic Memoir at Guadalajara International Book Fair 2024
The Guadalajara International Book Fair is one of a handful of major book fairs with large exhibits that feature hundreds of authors from around the world. Thus, it seemed a good opportunity for Subhranil De, a physics professor who also happens to love poetry. Earlier this year, he published “The Time on Gravel Roads,” an evocative memoir that describes the six-year period of his life between graduate school and starting on a tenure-track.
Subhranil’s story is an uplifting read for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature, the value of friendships, and the transformative power of pursuing one’s dreams. His love of classical music and poetry delicately weave through the friendships he makes and beauty of nature he embraces from simply stepping off the beaten paths. It is a reminder that the road less traveled can lead to the most rewarding destinations, both within and around us. – Amazon review by Kat
The Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), is one of several large publishing conventions that invite all sorts of publishers of various sizes to fill its vast exhibit halls. The result is not only an exciting opportunity for small, independent authors to showcase their work. It also builds upon the FIL’s dedication to celebrating the sharing of culture via literature.
It’s an opportunity readily embraced by Subhranil De, a physics professor who has also long practiced writing evocative prose and has finally published his own memoir to showcase during the event.
The title of his work is “The Time on the Gravel Roads,” inspired by several moments of his life where he explored backroads to take his mind off the anxiety and drudgery of his academic career. Inside one finds a lyrical narrative that express his awe for nature, which was a frequent sight in these little excursions. At the same time, the memoir abounds in anecdotes involving heartwarming human interactions, mainly in the context of him teaching as a lecturer.
It’s a poetic journey that certainly fits well in the cultural celebration of the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2024. Those who would like to check out his work can find “The Time on the Gravel Roads” at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at stand GG40 and GG42 from November 30 to December 4, 2024. The book fair will be held from November 30 to December 8, 2024, at the Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Colonia Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.
