Project Healing Waters Becomes National Grantee Of The Public Lands Fund, Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation

Windsor, Colorado, USA – WEBWIRE

Project Healing Waters (‘PHW’), a mission-driven national 501(c)(3) organization with a 19-year legacy, is grateful to announce the organization’s receipt of a $40,000 grant from the Public Lands Fund, a program of the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation.

In addition, the nonprofit organization proudly celebrates being recognized today as a National Grantee of the Public Lands Fund.

The Public Lands Fund’s mission is to celebrate and protect public lands for all, supporting organizations that are conserving public lands and increasing access to inclusivity in the outdoors.

The Public Land Fund’s grant and subsequent National Grantee distinction will enable Project Healing Waters to amplify the visibility, reach, and impact of its mission, empowering more of America’s Veterans to venture out into the majestic beauty of America’s wilderness and heal through fly fishing outings with their peers. The grant will also support existing programming, including fly rod building, fly tying, and fly casting, activities at the core of PHW’s mission to restore the camaraderie, connectedness, and community that Veterans so often lose following separation from the military.

Todd Spaletto, President of Public Lands Fund, stated that “The Public Lands Fund has supported Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing’s local Columbus, Ohio chapter for a few years now – We were so inspired by their impact on the local veteran community that we’re today truly excited to build onto our support by Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing officially becoming a national grantee of the Public Lands Fund.”

Originating in 2005 as an initiative aiding wounded military personnel at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, particularly those returning from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, Project Healing Waters has grown its reach and impact nationwide, not only throughout the VA system but also alongside partner organizations and fly fishing clubs across the country.

Veterans meet, learn, and heal alongside Veteran and non-military volunteers across nearly 200 communities nationwide.

John ‘Saint’ Langford, Project Healing Waters Chief Executive Officer (CEO) stated that, “The funds we received from the Public Lands Fund — The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, and the distinction of being appointed as a National Grantee is an important recognition of our mission and impact. We embrace the use of public lands for a truly worthwhile cause – providing a restorative backdrop that supports the healing journey of our Veteran Participants. We look forward to a lasting and impactful partnership and giving back to our Veteran community through their ongoing support.”
