Philip Ripley Ward’s Personal Guide to Golf (with Just a Little Talk About God) Set for Outdoor Exhibit at PRLF 2024
At this year’s Printers Row Lit Fest (PRLF), readers can pick up all sorts of handy information and day-to-day wisdom without necessarily going for the big-name bestsellers. Authors like Philip Ripley Ward are one example. A passionate golfer and student of Hall-of-Famer Bob Toski, Ward has decided to pass on both his sporting techniques and his spiritual insights in one book titled “Golf Is Not What You Think.”
“Even a touring pro will admit that he/she only experiences approximately four “perfect” shots per round.”
The Printers Row Lit Fest isn’t just for America’s famous authors and bestsellers. Visitors can find a great teacher in the dozens of independent and emerging authors who are also sharing what they know through their books.
And for those who love both God and the sport of golf, Philip Ripley Ward’s own personal guide could be just what they’re looking for.
His book is titled “Golf Is Not What You Think;” it is a book that sprinkles in Ward’s simple Christian wisdom as he shares his experiences and insights playing the game. In 1978, he attended the Golf Digest Instruction School and studied under PGA Hall-of-Famer Bob “Mighty Mouse” Toski.
Since then, he has had quite a number of accomplishments himself. One of them includes shooting an 8 under par 28. He’s also hit seven aces and counting.
Yet, perhaps it was reflecting on those victories that prompted him to tackle some of the most enduring mistakes made by beginners. With dry humor and Christian humility, his book discourages readers from setting their bar too high and too early. Using his own encounters with some of the best players in America, he gives an inside look that reveals how even the pros gave themselves plenty of room for mistakes (and for a bigger portion of their time on the course).
Combined with practical wisdom on etiquette and sportsmanship, “Golf Is Not What You Think” presents itself as a sagely guide to those who want to participate in golf with more grace.
Visitors to the Printers Row Lit Fest 2024 can find “Golf Is Not What You Think” on display at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at Booth Space C & D. The outdoor literary festival will take place on September 7-8, 2024, at the historic Printers Row Park, 620 S Dearborn St (Ida B Wells & Polk), Chicago, Illinois.
