Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Product Development group will use NGRAIN’s visual 3D software to create a snapshot of product information for new technologies.

NGRAIN, award-winning provider of 3D performance support solutions, today announced that it has delivered its Visual Product Model (VisPM) solution to Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP) group, also known as Skunk WorksTM. ADP selected the NGRAIN VisPM solution to create interactive 3D visual index applications that facilitate visualization of, and access to, critical product and program information. The visual index enables members of Lockheed Martin’s product team to create “single snapshots” of product information, which can be used to instantly locate and access critical reference materials.

“After completing a thorough RFP process, we chose NGRAIN because of their expertise in 3D visualization and integration, as well as their products’ capabilities to support our very specific needs,” stated Marc O’Brien, Group Lead, Virtual Manufacturing & Prototyping at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Palmdale. “Our team creates next generation projects built from entirely new concepts and leap frog technology. Having the ability to clearly and succinctly demonstrate our product ideas to internal and external stakeholders is essential. NGRAIN’s solution has demonstrated that we can not only reduce the time spent on gathering critical program information, but also communicate more effectively using interactive 3D models as a visual interface to access information.”

To support ADP’s product team, NGRAIN enhanced its products’ functionality to allow users to launch interactive links from a virtual 3D model. This will allow the ADPteam to instantly access reference materials such as electronic documentation, presentations, engineering documents, and multi-media files.

“When ADP approached us with their requirements, it was clear that our commercial-of-the-shelf software was a great fit. We enhanced our products to further simplify the creation of 3D models that serve as a visual index to access critical information more rapidly,” explained Paul Lindahl, NGRAIN President & CEO. “This enabled us to provide a solution that allows their product and program managers to more effectively communicate information to their stakeholders.”
