The experienced goalkeeper is in his second spell at the club, after initially coming through the Academy as a youngster.

Since rejoining in 2021, he finally made his senior debut for his boyhood side later that year, against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League.

Tom also appeared in the League Cup wins over Charlton Athletic and Nottingham Forest, en route to lifting the trophy in 2023, keeping clean sheets on both occasions.

[p"I am delighted to continue my stay at my boyhood club" Heaton told club media. "I still feel in great shape and I am ready to offer whatever the squad needs throughout the season ahead.[/p][p"In addition to on the pitch, I’m learning so much off it for my next steps, whatever that may be. But, first and foremost, I want to push the squad to build on our successes from last season" [/p]

The 38-year-old is currently with the England squad in Germany, helping the team prepare for the quarter-final showdown with Switzerland on Saturday.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate called the United man up as a training goalkeeper, to assist Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale and ex-Red Dean Henderson.

Everybody at United would like to congratulate Tom on the new deal and wish him well for 2024/25.
