The Philadelphia 76ers selected Jared McCain from Duke University with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

McCain spent one season with the Blue Devils and earned a 2023-24 ACC All-Rookie Team selection and was an All-ACC Honorable Mention after starting all 36 games. He averaged 14.3 points per game, while shooting 41.4-percent on 5.8 attempts from beyond the arc, adding 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals.

The California native set a Duke freshman record with eight made triples en route to a career-best 35-point performance against Florida State on Feb. 17. The 35-point effort matched Zion Williamson for the most points ever scored by a Blue Devils’ freshman. He later notched a school NCAA Tournament-record eight threes in a second-round contest against James Madison on March 24.

McCain recorded three games of at least 30 points, the most among all NCAA Division I freshmen last season. Two of his three 30-point games came during Duke’s run to the Elite Eight of the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

Before attending Duke, McCain was a 2022-23 McDonald’s All-American and earned a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2022 U18 Americas Championship.
