WASHINGTON - TASER International, Inc. (Nasdaq:TASR), a market leader in advanced electronic control devices, has released the following News Alert:

According to reports from the Orange County Register, a 15-year-old boy attempting to commit suicide was taken into police custody Monday night after threatening himself with an 8-inch kitchen knife. Officers responded to the 1200 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue at 6:43 p.m. and repeatedly asked the teen, who police believe had been drinking, to drop the knife. After negotiations failed, officers deployed a TASER electronic control device to subdue the boy and take control of the knife. The teen was taken to St. Jude Medical Center and will undergo psychiatric evaluation at Evaluation Treatment Services.

Fullerton police Sgt. Linda King commented on handling suicide attempts remarking, “Each situation is different, but the goal is to have a win-win situation where no one gets injured and we are able to get the proper psychological help.”
