Paauw elected in the Netherlands
Frank Paauw has been elected as the new president of the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB).
Paauw, 65, will take up the role on 1 September, succeeding Just Spee, who has resigned due to health reasons.
An experienced administrator, Paauw previously served as police chief in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam, also working as a UEFA security officer and key adviser on safety matters for over 20 years at major UEFA events. These roles brought him into contact with many different aspects of football, a sport he started playing at the age of six and continues to do so in a veterans’ team. It also allowed him to build up a strong national and international network in the game.
[p"I intend to repay the trust shown in me" he said after being elected, adding that being appointed to the role was a “special honour.”[/p]© 1998-2024 UEFA. All rights reserved.
