Margaux Pinot is world champion

On the fourth day of competition, Margaux Pinot (-70 kg) became world champion for the first time in her career, winning an all-Paris final against Marie-Ève Gahié in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). Paris Saint-Germain’s judokas have now won 4 medals, including 2 gold, with two days to go before the end of the 2024 World Championships.

Having beaten fellow Parisian Marie Ève-Gahié (-70 kg) in the final of her category, Margaux Pinot has won the gold medal at the 2024 World Championships. This is the 30-year-old judoka’s first world title, having already won a bronze medal in the event in 2019.

The silver medallist at the Grand Slam in Tashkent in March successively beat Brazil’s Ellen Froner, Hungary’s Szabina Gercsak and Australia’s Aoife Coughlan to reach the quarter-finals. She then defeated Japan’s Shiho Tanaka before facing Greece’s Elisavet Teltsidou in the semi-finals and winning the final of her category against her counterpart from Paris Saint-Germain, Marie-Ève Gahié.
