AquaLogic SOA Management (ALSM) Solution to be Available in Q2 2007; Expanded AquaLogic Platform Designed to Enable Comprehensive SOA Governance

SAN JOSE, Calif.– BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, announced today a strategic reseller agreement with AmberPoint, the industry’s leading provider of SOA runtime governance solutions. As part of this partnership, BEA will resell AmberPoint’s SOA Management System under the company’s AquaLogic product family.

The BEA branded product is being released as AquaLogic SOA Management (ALSM), and will play a key role in the expansion of BEA’s AquaLogic product family. The inclusion of ALSM can provide BEA customers with a complete SOA governance solution, designed to allow the company to address governance issues at every phase of the SOA lifecycle.

“Leveraging AmberPoint’s SOA Management System within our AquaLogic platform is proof that BEA continues to execute on our vision to deliver the most complete SOA platform we can,” said Rob Levy, executive vice president and chief technology officer, BEA Systems. “It is critical that we offer our customers control and visibility into how their SOA systems are operating, and our partnership with AmberPoint is another way we can further help them do that.”

BEA ALSM can provide visibility into and control of the services network using a policy-based approach to manage loosely coupled systems. With ALSM, organizations can better understand the behavior of their systems in their SOA and implement policies that automate performance management and remedy exceptional conditions.

“Governance is a critical factor at every stage of the SOA lifecycle,” said John Hubinger, chief executive officer, AmberPoint. “By partnering with BEA, we’re delivering tight integrations that are designed to enable customers to more fully leverage the advantages of the AquaLogic platform. This will result in more robust services-based applications and help to speed the return organizations gain on their investments in SOA.”

AquaLogic SOA Management comes fully integrated in BEA’s SOA Governance platform and offers a unique set of capabilities like central policy management and distributed enforcement capabilities for heterogeneous environments. The platform allows customers to track quality of service and the policy compliance of all SOA components.

“You cannot do SOA without proper governance of the runtime environment" said Toby Redshaw, corporate vice president of IT strategy, architecture, and e-business at Motorola. “That means visibility across the services network and the ability to control constantly evolving application components. The strategic relationship between BEA and AmberPoint brings together and optimizes leading technologies behind our SOA initiatives.”

ALSM can bring significant benefits to AquaLogic environments, including:

• Helps provide a bird’s eye view of real-time SOA operational health and service dependencies

• Can bring predictability and control to SOA systems

• Detects and prevents service problems for federated, distributed environments

• Is designed to detect, diagnose and remedy exceptions before they can impact business

• Can lower application-support costs and IT overheads through rapid diagnosis and problem resolution

Availability

AquaLogic SOA Management will be available in the second quarter of 2007.
