For many years, Air France has been actively supporting a policy of equal opportunities and professional integration in the French regions.

Thanks to the RECORD scheme, Air France was able to invite 15 pupils from the George Sand de Bagatelle secondary school to visit its La Barigoude site in Toulouse. Let’s take a look back at this rewarding experience.

Presentation of the RECORD scheme

RECORD (Remobilisation Educative pour la Coopération et l’Ouverture pour Réussir Demain), is the name of a French education reintegration programme promoting cooperation and an innovative approach to ensuring future success. It is a national initiative, supported by the Occitanie education authority, within the framework of the France 2030 investment programme. Its aim is to remotivate pupils identified at risk of dropping out of school or early school leavers, with adapted actions and measures specially designed for a class of 15 pupils in years 8 and 9.
RECORD is a type of second-chance school offering a comprehensive educational programme, including tailored and adapted lessons given by teachers trained to deal with these situations, combined with out-of-school projects and social mentoring.

A look back at Air France’s commitment

Through its work with Patricia BOURGEAIS, member of the Engineers for School (IPE) programme, Air France is proud to have supported and remotivated secondary school students by helping them to discover career paths, unexpected opportunities and the professions that are recruiting.

The La Barigoude site in Toulouse hosted two special events for the class on 26 March and 23 April -

  • To begin with, 5 students, accompanied by their mentor, spent a full day visiting the site, organized by the company’s staff. The students made an object using a 3D printer, took part in telephone operations at the call center, collaborated on hacking a mobile phone, and visited the cyber supervisors’ control room;
  • This was followed with a half-day exchange session between the entire class, the teaching staff, the Toulouse education community and their mentor, and Air France staff, this time guided by the 5 students themselves, encouraging their autonomy.

What the mentors had to say

“The young people were incredible – attentive and dynamic.

My colleagues were very generous, giving up their time to show people what their job involves.

We are proud to contribute to local integration initiatives, and I’m proud to have enabled my colleagues to make a contribution to society as Air France employees.”

These two days of immersion are part of Air France’s policy of promoting equal opportunities, which has been in place for several years. And more broadly, it reflects Air France’s commitment to Diversity and inclusion.
