The 2024 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is one of the most anticipated and well-loved literary festivals in the United States. From April 20 to 21, 2024, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a wide range of people, including authors, artists, publishers, and anyone and everyone who appreciates the wonders of literature.

The book exhibits will be the highlight of the L.A. Times Festival of Books 2004. One book attendees should check out is the memoir “Both Ends of the Barrel: From the Troop Surge to Fort Hood - A Dozen Years in the Global War” by Patrick L. Zeigler Jr. In this book, Zeigler shares his journey of bravery in serving the country and protecting the people and his gratitude for life as he fights through the pain of an intense and terrifying near-death experience.

Growing up with parents who were both active-duty Navy personnel, Patrick also chose a military career path and succeeded. From enlisting as a Cavalry Scout in 2005 to participating in the troop surge in Iraq in 2006 to surviving the Fort Hood Massacre in 2009 and now taking steps in his everyday life towards recovery, Patrick aims to empower others who are also struggling with their pains.

Unfortunately, traumatic experiences such as the Fort Hood Massacre are beyond everyone’s control, but how one deals with them is up to them. “Both Ends of the Barrel” inspires readers to believe that no matter what happens, great strength within enables them to push through whatever challenges may come in life.

Hope and bravery come hand in hand, and these two gave Patrick L. Zeigler Jr. the strength to be where he is now, sharing his life with all who would listen. Get a copy of “Both Ends of the Barrel: From the Troop Surge to Fort Hood - A Dozen Years in the Global War” on Amazon.
