CBC Sports is bringing the ISU WORLD FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS to audiences across the country, offering more than 40 hours of exclusive Canadian coverage on broadcast and streaming platforms for the first World Championships on home soil in more than a decade. Viewers can watch as events unfold in Montreal from Wednesday, March 20–Sunday, March 24, with live streams of every event available on the free CBC Gem streaming service, cbcsports.ca/figureskating and the CBC Sports app for iOS and Android devices. CBC SPORTS PRESENTS primetime coverage begins on Thursday, March 21 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT hosted by Andi Petrillo, and Scott Russell who will be on the ground in Montreal. Play-by-play will be provided by CBC Sports’ Brenda Irving with commentary by Olympian and four-time World Champion Kurt Browning. They will be joined by three-time Olympic medallist Meagan Duhamel for men’s, women’s and pairs events and Canadian ice dancer Asher Hill for ice dance and the World Figure Skating Championships Gala. 

 

Hosted by Hill, CBC Sports digital series THAT FIGURE SKATING SHOW will prep viewers for the competition with a special preview episode from Montreal, offering a look at the season to date for Canada’s top skaters and what to expect at the World Championships, as well as an overview of the top international stars who will be descending on Montreal, and Asher’s Podium Picks. Exclusive digital content will continue to roll out during the competition featuring fan-favourite Canadian skaters and will culminate in a recap episode on Monday, March 25, breaking down the winners from each discipline, the biggest storylines and the top moments. THAT FIGURE SKATING SHOW can be found on CBC Sports’ YouTube page, as well as CBC Olympics’ Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.  

 

The final major event of the figure skating season, the ISU WORLD FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS will feature the 200 best figure skaters from over 40 countries in men’s singles, women’s singles, pairs, and ice dance. Canadian athletes vying for spots on the podium in front of family and friends include Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps, currently ranked second in the world, in the pairs competition, and last year’s bronze medallists in ice dance, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, who won a gold medal at the ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships and a bronze medal at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final.
