The book starts explosively with Cross, the protagonist, investigating the sinking of container ships that are causing catastrophic supply chain disruptions. He travels around the world to find answers only to discover life-like robots are infiltrating the human race as part of a plan to control the world from Washington, DC. In a race against time, Cross escapes death to locate an island somewhere in the vast waters that is orchestrating events.
