From the 1940 Blitz to the 2020 Pandemic, Romy Wyllie’s Memoir Set to Contrast Both Historical Events at LATFOB 2024 Exhibit

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is a major book publishing convention taking place in the early parts of the year. That also makes it one of the first events where authors can exhibit their books to share ideas and educate curious readers. At this year’s festival, Blitzkrieg survivor Romy Wyllie will be showcasing her memoir, “From There to Here.” It’s a book that makes a rare and daring analysis that contrasts Wyllie’s wartime memories with her 2020 experiences.

Major book events like the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books are also a platform for various authors to educate readers on a wide range of topics. And when it comes to history, as well as telling her own personal story, Romy Wyllie takes readers on a very eye-opening journey with her memoir, “From There to Here: War, Peace, Pandemic.”

Wyllie was born in England in the year 1932 and is one of the few remaining people in the world who had directly experienced the 1940 Blitzkrieg. Incidentally, she had begun work on her memoir at the peak of the 2020 pandemic and thought that it would have been the best use of her time in the midst of quarantine isolation.

The result is a memoir that not only details the events of her life but also contrasts and compares two pivotal moments in history. Unlike other books that tend to oversimplify or exaggerate on subjects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wyllie points out certain stark differences between 2020 and the Blitz that have strong factual basis. (A good example would be how many British citizens still continued their daily lives and socialized regularly despite the nightly bombings, as opposed to the nigh insurmountable isolation that the 2020 pandemic required).

Visitors to the upcoming Los Angeles Times Festival of Books 2024 can check out Romy Wyllie’s book when it gets displayed at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at booth #225. The festival will be held on April 21-22, 2024, at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. Get a copy on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Wyllie has also started sharing updates on other history books she has written, all available on her website at https://www.romywyllie.com/.
