The advent of a new Land Cruiser generation is always a landmark occasion for Toyota with the introduction of engineering and design innovations that will advance the model’s legendary reputation for world-beating quality, reliability and durability. Today, the launch of the next all-new Land Cruiser reaches another milestone with opening of pre-sale online reservations, giving customers the opportunity to be among the first to secure the new model on its debut during the third quarter of 2024.

The first Land Cruiser versions to be offered during this period are the high-specification Prestige and Executive grades and the online-exclusive First Edition. Further versions will be made available at a later date.

Land Cruiser: back to its origins

More than 70 years on from the launch of the original Toyota BJ, the all-new Land Cruiser is returning to its origins with a focus on its core quality as a vehicle you can trust to take you to your destination, and bring you home again, even in the harshest conditions.

By tradition, a body-on-frame construction has been key to Land Cruiser’s genuine go-anywhere character. That remains true for the latest generation, with the benefit of Toyota’s new GA-F global platform. This is the foundation for a significant improvement in off-road capability, with a 30% increase in overall rigidity – and 50% for the frame. That delivers better responsiveness, handling and ride comfort, while new suspension design enables better wheel articulation and styling details allow for more challenging slopes to be tackled. This is also the first Land Cruiser to adopt electric power steering, reducing kickback when driving on rough surfaces and providing smoother, direct performance and easier manoeuvrability.

The Land Cruiser is equipped for serious off-road performance with Crawl Control, an electronic locking differential and a combination of Multi-Terrain Monitor and Panoramic View Monitor to help the driver tackle more challenging terrain. Whatever the outside environment, on-board comfort, connectivity and information are guaranteed with features including 12.3-inch customisable digital driver’s combimeter, a 12,3-inch multimedia screen with the latest infotainment-system, 10-speaker audio system and heated and ventilated front seats. In addition to the latest generation Toyota Safety Sense active safety and driver assistance systems, Land Cruiser also provides Front Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor and selectable drive modes.

The higher Exclusive and First Edition grades offer even more technical features, including Toyota’s ground-breaking new Stabiliser Disconnection Mechanism (SDM). This changes the status of the front anti-roll bar to boost driveability on rough roads while securing more comfort and easier handling in on-road driving. Other equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, a digital rear-view mirror, 14-speaker premium JBL audio package and a head-up display.

Exclusive Land Cruiser First Edition

The First Edition is the pinnacle of the all-new Land Cruiser line-up, available only in limited numbers and exclusively to customers who reserve their vehicle online during the pre-sales period. It stands apart with bespoke styling with 18-inch wheels, classic round headlights, bi-tone Sand or Smoky Blue exterior paintwork and “First Edition” badges. In the cabin the front seats feature special upholstery piping and stitching.

Three versions available for pre-sales

All three versions – Prestige, Executive and First Edition – are available in the initial pre-sales period, in both five and seven seat configurations.

The Prestige and Executive versions share a powerful new exterior design that communicates the vehicle’s fundamental strength and capability with a clean and contemporary, form-follows-function look. The grades are visually differentiated by the Executive being fitted with alternative-design 20-inch alloy wheels in place of the Prestige’s 18-inch rims.

Powertrains

In Western Europe, the new Land Cruiser is powered by a 204 DIN hp/150 kW 2.8-litre turbodiesel engine matched to a new eight-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission, giving it the power to pull loads up to 3,500 kg. In 2025 an electrified 2.8-litre diesel powertrain with Hybrid 48V technology system will be introduced.
