Delphi Corp. (PINKSHEETS: DPHIQ) will provide the complete E/E distribution systems, the satellite radio and DAB (Digital Audio Broadcast) receiver, integrated antenna, passive-occupant detection system, security sensor and electrical/electronic distribution systems for the recently introduced Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the injection system for the Diesel Common Rail in the 220 CDI model.

“We are pleased to provide several key technology systems for the completely redesigned 2007 Mercedes Benz C-Class,” said Jugal Vijayvargiya, Controls & Security product business unit executive with the lead for Delphi Electronics & Safety in Europe. “The 2007 model of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is an ’eye catcher’ that we believe will generate tremendous excitement with consumers around the world. We are honored to showcase so many of our technologies on this important vehicle.”

As the leading supplier of OEM satellite radio hardware, Delphi provides satellite radio receivers for the new vehicle. Delphi’s latest satellite receiver technology offers improved reception performance and audio quality for the listener.

Delphi introduces this enhanced Delphi tuner within the new C-Class.

Satellite radio is helping to lead the digital convergence for radio in the United States and provides listeners with more than 150 channels of digital quality programming across the entire country.

The new medium, forecast to become available in Europe within the next few years, provides many of its channels commercial-free and, unlike terrestrial radio the satellite signal does not fade over long distances. Mobile listeners can drive thousands of miles and keep the same radio signal. Delphi has sold more than 7 million OEM satellite radio receivers for the U.S. market.

Delphi’s DAB receiver enhances entertainment systems by providing the capability to receive digital radio in Europe. DAB offers CD-like audio quality and the opportunity to broadcast data services like premium traffic information. In some regions, broadcasters offer specialized programs only available on DAB.

Delphi’s Fuba™ subsidiary delivers an integrated antenna systems for the reception of AM/FM radio, DAB radio, Keyless-go and central lock. Mercedes C-Class vehicles bound for Japan ordered with a TV system are equipped with Delphi Fuba’s TV antenna system. The integrated antenna technology provides advanced reception performance and the possibility of invisible integration into the vehicle design.

Delphi’s passive occupant detection system is designed to classify the occupant seated in the front passenger seat of the new C-Class for potential airbag suppression. The system provides information to the airbag controller to suppress or deploy the passenger airbag based on the weight in the seat.

Delphi’s content theft detection system used on the Mercedes C-Class is the market leading product and provides security by using ultrasonic sensors to detect movement within the passenger compartment and inclination sensors to trigger the alarm in case of wheel or towing thefts.

Delphi’s Electrical/Electronic Distribution Systems will provide wiring harnesses for the passenger compartment, cockpit, doors, roof, seating and engine compartment. Delphi realized a new environmental friendly E/EDS concept by reducing material and components as possible. These highly integrative harnesses are specific to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The engine compartment harness contains a pre-fuse box with a pyrotechnic battery-disconnect safety switch to seer the starter and alternator securely from the battery in case of an accident.

A seven-way fuse holder (replacing the one-way standard fuse holder) is making its debut in the new C-Class. Significant quality improvement through reduction of assembly and handling risks cost reduction when more than three single fuse holders on one bench can be replaced and no need to change the device side due to compatibility of the standard interface geometry are some of the design advantages.

Delphi Powertrain supplies the diesel common rail system for the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class 220 CDI. “This is a tremendous achievement for our diesel team and demonstrates our technological prowess and commitment to develop to-notch technology,” said Guy C. Hachey, President, Delphi Europe. “The new system provides high injection pressure, improved nozzle design, superior hydraulic stability and enhanced software strategies. One of the many benefits is a tremendous reduction in NOx.”
