“This book is the harrowing tale of a young man’s journey through war, terror, family, and disability. It’s written in a matter of fact yet evocative style and I can’t recommend it enough.” – Michael Saxton, Amazon review

Patrick L. Zeigler’s military memoir “Both Ends of the Barrel: From the Troop Surge to Fort Hood A Dozen Years in the Global War” was showcased by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair. The book trade fair took place last October 18-22, 2023, at Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

ReadersMagnet supports independent and self-published authors by exhibiting their works at national and international book fairs, such as the Frankfurt Book Fair, which is the world’s largest book trade fair. As authors still find their niche in the publishing industry, the company helps them find exposure and marketing connections to boost their author profiles and brands.

“Both Ends of the Barrel” follows Sergeant Patrick Zeigler as he takes the readers in his point-of-view during his experience in the Fort Hood shooting on November 5, 2009. His colleague opened fire at uniformed soldiers, killing a number of them on the spot. Zeigler describes the incident in detail, bringing the readers into the room where it all happened. He also narrates how he was fatally shot and almost died during the incident.

Writing the book is part of his healing. It is designed to be a tool to help people with past traumas cope with their own nightmares. Zeigler also expressed to have written this book to memorialize the thirteen victims who perished at Fort Hood.
