“A Good Marine’s Murder” follows Colonel Dan Breakheart, a Second Marine Air Wing’s Safety Officer, as he tries to sort out the death of his friend, Colonel Jack Adams, who allegedly crashed an AV-8B Harrier in the middle of a North Carolina Bean Field. As he investigates the death of Adams, he gathers clues and uncovers secrets that point to a planned homicide.

Using the information Jack’s wife provides, Dan begins delving into the last few days of Jack’s life. He gets the help of his buddy, Major “Snake” Burns, and a young and lovely NADEP engineer to solve the mystery quickly. However, solving the case will require him to place himself in harm’s way while smoking the malefactor into a confession.

David C. Corbett retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1990 as a full colonel. During his twenty-eight-year career of flying fighter jets, which included the F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-9 Cougar, and, for the last seventeen years, the AV-8 Harrier (Jump-Jet). He also held five commands, including an AV-8 Harrier squadron, a Marine Air Support Group, and a Marine Air Ground Task Force.

Colonel Corbett spent two tours in Vietnam, one flying the F-8 Crusader and the other flying Cobra gunship helicopters. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross while flying a mission into North Vietnam.

He began writing professionally in 1986 for a regional magazine, “Carolina Cursing.” It was in the early writing career that he appeared in “Naval Proceeding,” with an article on the use of the AV-8 in a combat scenario. He was also published several times in the prestigious Navy Air Safety Publication “Approach.”

Beyond his flying abilities, Corbett is an avid sailor, which led to having articles published in a variety of sailing-oriented magazines. This led to a position as an associate editor for “Coastal Cruising” magazine, where he had his own byline.

Now fully retired, living in North Carolina, near the Marine Corps base from which he flew so many wonderful years, he enjoys life with his loving wife, Donna.
