U.S. Army Awards General Dynamics $16 Million for Stryker Combat Vehicle Work

The U.S. Army TACOM Lifecycle Management Command has awarded General Dynamics Land Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a $16 million contract modification for repairs on Stryker combat vehicles. The repairs are needed to support the Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment extension of the 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 2nd Infantry Division, headquartered at Fort Lewis, Wash., as well as the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 2nd Infantry Division, also at Fort Lewis.

This modification will ensure continued maintenance for the Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) fleet, as well as Stryker Mobile Gun System and Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Reconnaissance Vehicle support. Existing General Dynamics employees in Shelby, Mich.; Auburn, Wash.; London, Ontario, Canada; Germany; Iraq; and Kuwait will perform the work, which is expected to be completed by Feb. 29, 2008.

Stryker is a family of eight-wheeled combat vehicles, available in ten variants. The vehicles have been proven effective by the U.S. Army and the National Guard for defense and disaster-response missions.
