Many visitors to this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair had undoubtedly seen another vast and widely diverse selection of book exhibits, including no small representation of Christian authors around the world. Among them was the pastor of Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Gentre Garmon, whose book “Thrifty Thoughts For the Day”” shares his experiences of seeing God’s presence during his work and in the lives others.

Being the world’s largest book fair, the annual Frankfurt Book Fair, also known as Frankfurter Buchmesse, had numerous book exhibits that were as diverse as the many visitors who had come to check what was new.
Naturally, it’s no surprise that the newest books of various Christian authors could also be found there. One example was “Thrifty Thoughts For The Day,” written by Dr. Gentre L. Garmon.
The book is the product of Garmon’s 30 plus years serving as the pastor of Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church. He is also a longtime member of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference as well as an experienced social worker.
Originally, its contents were meant to be given freely to just the members of his church. But as he reviewed his written reflections, he discerned a call to spread his message further and went to formally publish.
The central theme of “Thrifty Thoughts For The Day” is a focus on God’s presence and how that presence remains so long as one puts Him in the center of their actions. It’s meant to be an inspirational read but also thought-provoking at the same time. Because for Dr. Garmon, a deeper understanding of God’s presence in every facet of life can lead others to a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Dr. Gentre L. Garmon has served as the pastor of the Nazareth Missionary Baptist Church in Buffalo for 35 years. The author has also worked as an educator, public health social worker, and supervisor. He served on the board of directors of the local Crisis Services Agency, a member of the board of directors of the Synergy Organization, and a long-time member of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference. Dr. Garmon has been married to Kittie J. Garmon for 57 years. They have three children and two grandchildren. In his spare time, Dr. Garmon enjoys reading, swimming, walking, traveling, and viewing sports.
