Cibernet the world’s leading Financial Clearing House for Mobile Operators recently advised the growing CDMA 450 industry that there is a solution in place for their emerging international roaming financial clearing and settlement requirements.

Speaking at the recent CDMA 450 Roaming Workshop in London, UK, Cibernet’s US Director of Operations, Kyle Spinks advised the International 450 Association that the CIBER record, the Cellular Intercarrier Billing Exchange Roamer record is available now for the exchange of roaming billing information, for voice and data, among CDMA wireless telecommunication companies, their billing vendors and data clearinghouses. The CIBER record is Cibernet’s industry standard for CDMA roaming and is a key component of the extremely accurate yet simple CDMA global roaming clearing and settlement process.

CDMA 450 is a 3G technology which uses CDMA 2000 1X air interface and is proving to be very successful when used to deploy high speed internet access to rural areas. The technology has seen its growth based around Eastern Europe however companies such as Radiomovel in Portugal have now entered the Western European market.

The growth in these new geographic markets has led to a real opportunity for the CDMA 450 Operators to exploit roaming opportunities for their voice product offers. Spinks provided the workshop a briefing on international billing and clearing, including an overview on international settlement with a view to explaining the ease of implementation, thereby encouraging the development of international roaming agreements.

Spinks also presented his ‘Settlement in CRX: CDMA Roaming Data Exchange Guidelines’ at the recent Cibernet CDMA User Group Meeting at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida on the 23rd of June, 2005.
