First Book of Thomas Livernois’ Thrilling Adventures of Unlikely Spy Exhibited at the Printers Row Lit Fest 2023

This year’s Printers Row Lit Fest saw hundreds of avid readers browsing and poring over books in the streets of Chicago. The exhibits offered a spot for many authors, including even the work of a casual storyteller such as Thomas G. Livernois. His book, “Drachman’s Dilemmas,” is the starting point of his gradually expanding chronicles starring his fictional office man-turned-spy Frank Drachman.

“Drachman’s dilemmas is a very well written book. The first few pages were a bit slow. Once I got through that part I loved the book! Being from Michigan I could picture every place Mr. Livernois was referring to and it got me very involved in the book. It is a very quick read. Once it got going I never put it down. His very detailed writing allows the reader to completely picture everything Drachman is experiencing. Great book!” – Kelli Laenen

Every year, the Printers Row Lit Fest celebrates Chicago’s own piece of American literary history. It is the largest outdoor book showcase in the Midwest, with authors big and small eagerly exhibiting their work to passersby along the streets.

Among these, one could find the humble work of Thomas G. Livernois, a former engineer who has taken up creative storytelling as a relaxing pursuit. One of his earlier books, “Drachman’s Dilemmas,” was exhibited at the fest with the help of ReadersMagnet (a book marketing and self-publishing company).

“Drachman’s Dilemmas” can be seen as a sort of origin story for Livernois’ main character, Frank Drachman. By all accounts, Drachman is introduced as an unassuming corporate man who just wants to get by while still trying to steadily make his way up in the world. However, a conspiracy of events soon drags him into the world of espionage, deception and globe-spanning plots.

“Drachman’s Dilemmas” shows readers exactly where it all began, when Frank comes into conflict with an out-of-town drunkard. The altercation becomes a bit of beef for Frank. But just as he thought he has it settled after a couple months, a sudden house call from the police tells him otherwise.

He is now implicated in the near-murder of the man. Yet more sinister still, his alcoholic assailant possessed darker secrets that have caught Frank in a web of intrigue.

In any case, it served as quite a refreshing spy thriller for the visitors at the Printers Row Lit Fest 2023. Livernois has yet to say about any future stories featuring Drachman. But for those who would want a copy of Thomas G. Livernois’ “Drachman’s Dilemmas”, they can purchase a copy on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
