The Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as the Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara, is the largest and most important cultural book showcase in Ibero-America. It is also the second-largest book fair in the world after Germany’s Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse). This book event is annually hosted and organized by the University of Guadalajara, and is expected to garner over 800,000 participants this year.

“The Cloud People” is a young adult fantasy that follows Billy, a typical middle-grade boy who is excited to spend his summer vacation with his grandparents in Indiana. Billy likes to daydream about adventures in class. Little did he know that he himself will embark on his own adventure. He will be traveling alone on a plane to his grandparents’ place.

After getting on his seat, he immediately falls asleep. When he wakes up, the plane is already about to land. That is when he sees a face in the cloud looking at him. The cloud person looks directly at Billy before it mysteriously disappears.

From that moment on, Billy becomes obsessed by his discovery. He shares his secret with his best friend, Megan. Together, they enter a world they never dreamed existed, making their dreams grow. They also discovered that Billy’s grandfather and uncle have experienced the same thing. All of these revelations leads them into an adventure they will never forget.

Author’s Biography

The author, Kenard Jospeh Tuzeneu, is the middle of five children born to Walter Tuzeneu and Marguerite deSante in West Long Branch, NJ. As a child, he always enjoyed playing outdoors and their many family camping trips. It was during those times of recreation that his imagination began to grow. He attended the local public schools, graduating from High School in 1971. He was attracted to math and enjoyed studying algebra and calculus. He enrolled in Monmouth College, now University as a major in math.

However, he already had thoughts of a religious vocation and was discerning becoming a Catholic priest. That desire only grew stronger and so he finally switched his major from Math to Philosophy. He loved this new field, which only served to feed his imagination and world of thought.

After receiving a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and a Minor in Psychology, Kenard entered the St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Md. He was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest on December 1, 1979. Since then, he served as an assistant priest and hospital chaplain until becoming pastor of St. Mary’s Church, Barnegat in 1992 where he continues to serve to this day.

As a priest, one of his main focuses has been communicating the Good News to all people. As part of that desire, he has always had a penchant for story-telling. In fact, each year at Christmas he writes a short story or reflection as part of a home-made Christmas card. It was during a plane ride to visit his younger brother in Tennessee that the idea of “the Cloud People” came to him. It started out as a short story but it continued to grow in his imagination until it became a small novel. Because of his parish duties, it was difficult to find time to write. It was during the COVID pandemic that he found extra time to finally finish.

He is excited and proud of this accomplishment. However, after finishing the story, he found himself wondering what might happen next to Billy. Hence, he is already in the process of writing a sequel, the next chapter in the story of “the Cloud People” and Billy.
