“This book is perfect for parents and educators who have toddlers that lack confidence. It will help them to believe in themselves. Brilliant work." – Reader’s Favorite

The Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), is the largest book fair in the Americas. It also distinguishes itself as a large cultural event. Hundreds of exhibits will be showcasing stories written by authors from a wide range of backgrounds.

This even includes a children’s book author whose story was actually written decades ago and has only managed to publish it recently. His name is Amir T. Khan, and his book is titled “Carerra De Lanchas Rapidas (Speedboat Race).”

Khan is a son of immigrant parents, mother from Guadalajara, Jalisco and an IT professional by trade. When he was 12, he wrote a fictional story that actually impressed the school district so much they submitted it to the Illinois Young Authors Conference. Years later, when Khan turned 40, his parents dug up this precious tale and gifted it to him.

Inspired by this rediscovery, Khan would then work with his two daughters to spruce up his story with new children’s book illustrations before officially publishing it.

“Carerra De Lanchas Rapidas (Speedboat Race)” follows a speedboat racer named John. Throughout the story, John is shown to be very methodical and determined. He studies the race routes way before the big event, does maintenance on his boat and even surveys the course!

Still, one day he finds that his next race has presented him with a most unexpected problem. Ultimately, the book teaches how not even the most surprising obstacles can get in the way of determination and the passionate pursuit of one’s dreams.

Khan’s decision to finally publish this story is mainly out of a desire to share a story for kids by a kid. Though he may have written it a long time ago, he believes its message can instill inspire a new generation of big dreamers.

Visitors to the 2023 Guadalajara International Book Fair can find “Carerra De Lanchas Rapidas (Speedboat Race)” displayed at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit. The book fair will take place from November 25 to December 3, 2023, at the Expo Guadalajara Convention Center, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Amir T. Khan’s book is available in both Spanish and English on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
