Statement on Actions In Response to Terrorist Attacks on Israel 

We are providing regular updates to all of our colleagues about the steps that American Express is taking to respond to the terrorist attacks on Israel. The following information has been shared by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen J. Squeri to all colleagues. We will continue to provide updates about our efforts on this page. 

Our hearts go out to all the victims, their families and people whose lives have been and continue to be impacted by the incomprehensible terrorist attacks on Israel.  

To help meet the urgent needs in Israel, American Express is committing $1.5 million in donations, with the first $750,000 going to the American Friends of Magen David Adom. This crisis is rapidly evolving, and we will donate additional funds to other relief organizations on the ground. In addition to Amex’s grant, the company is matching colleague contributions to all eligible nonprofit organizations. 

The safety, security and wellbeing of our colleagues are paramount and we have been in close communication with our colleagues since the violent attacks began. They are all safe, and we are doing everything we can to provide the support and resources they need as the situation continues to unfold. This is a very difficult time for our colleagues around the world. Many have personal connections, loved ones affected, and have been deeply disturbed by the images in the news. I would ask that you show caring and support to your fellow colleagues who may be struggling at this time, and I encourage anyone who feels they can benefit from counseling or other support services to access our Healthy Minds program.  

We are also working to ensure continuity of service for our Card Members and travel customers, and providing them additional assistance as needed.
