The Printers Row Lit Fest is an annual celebration organized by the not-for-profit Near South Planning Board. With its dynamic gathering of literary minds, Chicago’s premier literary festival provides a unique opportunity to engage with diverse perspectives and ideas.

“Doc Slik: Not A Life Of My Own” book tells the story of a teacher who was born in the Midwest and had an ordinary childhood. He grew up in a Christian family, and his faith played a vital role. Doc Slik pursued a career in higher education and faced many challenges, but he never gave up and eventually succeeded.

A career teacher, he taught students from junior high to post-doctoral levels. Doc Slik has also served others in other parts of the globe, including the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China.

The teacher’s journey involves American politics and highlights his efforts to promote democracy domestically and internationally. However, despite his best efforts, he could not prevent President Trump’s election. His life’s story is of hope, love, and faith, an adventure in self-discovery - blessed and rewarded by God.
