Ready Your Virtual Slingshot - Resolution Games’ Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs Takes Flight on PlayStation VR2

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – WEBWIRE

The gang’s all here, and all virtual! Red, Chuck, Bomb and the Blues have spread their wings once again with today’s release of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on PlayStation VR2. Created by the award-winning VR pioneers at Resolution Games, Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs has become a mainstay of VR entertainment since its initial release in 2019 and continues to delight audiences with its immersive approach to a globally-beloved franchise.

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs takes players to a popular vacation destination for the villainous green pigs, and gives players the opportunity to bombard their buildings in 104 levels across 8 environments, from exotic beaches and steep cliffs to snowy slopes, party peaks, and the spooky world of Dr. Frankenswine. Players put the fate of the pigs’ dwellings quite literally in their hands as they pick up the birds, place them into a slingshot, and pull back to send them flying — all using the PS VR2 Sense controllers.

“Resolution Games has been a trusted partner in bringing the Angry Birds franchise to the latest immersive VR and AR platforms since 2018,” said Sami Ronkainen, Director, Rovio Technology Game Projects. “Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs looks better than ever in this latest release, and opens up a familiar VR favorite to a whole new world of players on the PlayStation VR2.”

The PS VR2 version of Angry Birds: Isle of Pigs features enhanced visuals with improvements to environments and select 3D models, new visual effects, and refreshed lighting to improve the game’s overall fidelity. And — for the first time on PlayStation — players will also gain access to the online level builder, opening up the ability to create and share their own challenging stages for those dastardly pigs to defend. Players can explore the more than 20,000 custom levels that have already been shared by the player community, with more levels added every day to offer near-infinite replayability.

“While we’re proud of the 104 levels that we made for Isle of Pigs, the quality of content created by the player community has surpassed our wildest expectations,” said Tommy Palm, Founder and CEO of Resolution Games. “It’s been incredible to see the kinds of challenges that players have been able to create once we opened up the game design toolbox to them. There’s a staggering amount of original content that has been built and shared since the first release of the Online Level Builder on other platforms — and starting today, that same content is available on PS VR2.”

Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is available for purchase on the PlayStation Store for $19.99 for the PlayStation VR2. Owners of Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs on the original PlayStation VR can upgrade to the PS VR2 version at a discounted price of $9.99.
