The Printers Row Lit Fest 2023 was not only an opportunity for authors striving to present new, innovative work. It was also a chance for other authors to retell old truths, such as those shared by Christian author Peggy Palmer Varljen. The Printers Row Lit Fest 2023 was an event that gave many authors a chance to exhibit their work to curious onlookers passing through the streets of Chicago. And as a result, many books were exhibited for a wide range of objectives. But in the case of Peggy Palmer Varljen, it was the chance to do a service for her fellow followers of Jesus.
The title of her book is simply “Jesus: His Story”. It’s a book that attempts to bring together the life of Jesus as told in the four Gospels. It was exhibited during the event with the support of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.
More importantly, Varljen hopes to present His life in a way that is simple to understand and read.
To that end, she draws upon an extensive writing experience as well as her professional work in marketing. Varljen was once a feature writer for the Orlando Sentinel and published three arts-n-crafts books. She was also involved as a marketing director for several resorts in the Walt Disney World area.
Her work on the story of Jesus came about after the decision to devote more of her time serving her church community as well as other churchgoers across America. From what she’s seen, many hesitate to read their Bibles because of the trickiness and length of the Gospels. So, by telling Jesus’s life with more readable writing, she hopes more Christians can have confidence in understanding their faith and its main truth.

Margaret (Peggy) Palmer Varljen has lived an interesting and varied life. She was born in Ohio to parents that worked on the atomic bomb program during World War II, moved with family many times, and lived and attended different schools and Christian churches in Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois, Idaho, Florida, and Georgia.
She was social welfare major at Florida State University; married and had two children, Jenni and Bill; Wrote feature articles for Orlando Sentinel; wrote three arts and crafts books for Parker Publishing; traveled globally as a sales and marketing director for several family resorts in the Walt Disney World area; retired, moved to Georgia, and opened a travel agency; and was widowed after forty-two years.
Peggy is now married to Frank, a retired Army Colonel who became a widower after fifty years of marriage. Both lifelong Christians, they now live in the Atlanta area and keep busy with community, church, military association, and travel activities-and try to keep up with their four kids, twelve grandkids, seven great grandkids who live in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Michigan, California, and Virginia.
