New York, NY – WEBWIRE

The way to prevent new cases of lead poisoning in children and adults is to identify and mitigate exposure to lead sources where people live, learn, work, and spend their time.

Just two months after the New York State Department of Health announced it was launching the “Don’t Bring Lead Home” public health awareness campaign to educate the public about the dangers of lead exposure for adults, it launched a new digital educational campaign aimed at raising awareness of childhood lead exposure. The latest campaign emphasizes ways to keep lead away from children and the importance of blood lead tests for children at ages 1 and 2.

According to the Department of Health announcement:
Lead is a metal that can harm a young child’s growth, behavior, and ability to learn. It can also cause anemia, kidney damage, and hearing loss. Lead can be found in dust, air, water, soil, and in some products used in and around our homes. Lead-based paint in pre-1980 homes is the leading contributor to elevated blood lead levels in children.

“Young children are often the most susceptible to lead exposure,” said Frank Selamie, President of CTSI. “The way to prevent new cases of lead poisoning in children and adults is to identify and mitigate exposure to lead sources where people live, learn, work, and spend their time. At CTSI, our industrial hygiene and building science professionals have successfully performed thousands of lead and lead-based paint-related projects. Our expert team is comprised of EPA lead certified risk assessors and inspectors who conduct lead-based paint sampling and testing to comply with the NYC Department of Health, U.S. Department of Housing of Urban Development, and EPA guidelines. These services protect children, families and workers. They also help to keep companies and institutions in regulatory compliance.”
