Jamie Pulos-Fry’s Guide to Drawing Transformational Strength From Personal Trials Exhibited at San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books

Back in August, another Festival of Books was hosted by the San Diego Union-Tribune and offered authors from all walks of life a chance to showcase their work, tell their story and expand their audiences. However, some authors are just content to get the word out about the tried-and-true wisdom they live by. Church volunteer and devout Christian Jamie Pulos-Fry is one example. Her book, “Encouraging A Friend With Our Trials,” was among those in the exhibits.

“Your book is written from an honest and sincere heart which reflects the “token of grace” you are to so many people because of the trials you have had in your life and how God has brought you through them. We know as believers that God will use us to minister to others who face those same trials in the future because we have “lived it’ and came through as “gold” due to God’s refining.” Mrs. Nancy Lusk, Choir member at Lancaster Baptist Church, Lancaster, California

Back in August, the San Diego Union-Tribune hosted its 7th Festival of Books at the University of San Diego, Alcala Park, San Diego, CA. For many authors, it was an opportunity to introduce new stories, ideas, and information. Yet, for others, it was another chance to simply share their faith in the hopes that the seed of their spiritual message gets planted in even just one reader’s heart.

Such was the goal of Jamie Pulos-Fry and her book “Encouraging a Friend With Our Trials.” The book secured its exhibit with the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.

The book tells the story of Pulos-Fry’s own vehicular accident. The experience was not only traumatic; it also shook her with the prospect of permanent disability and a foreshadowing of more terrible things to come. As she spent her time in recovery, her faith was also experiencing massive turmoil.

After all, how does one continue to believe in God when such terrible things happen to those who don’t deserve them?

By the end of it however, she gained a great deal of incredible spiritual insights that renewed her with a sense of purpose. It also helped that she encountered a number of very compassionate doctors and helpers during her recovery.

Overall, it’s a book meant to showcase how the worst events in a Christian’s life could be God’s way of calling people to greater service to His will. And if there was a reader at the Festival of Books that could come away inspired by Pulos-Fry’s message, then it was all worth it.
