David M. Butler was born in Wichita, KS. He grew up in Alton, IL, Terra Haute, IN, and from third grade, Waukon, IA. David graduated in 1983, attended the University of Northern Iowa, ran varsity indoor track for my first year, and graduated in 1988. He worked in El Paso, TX, teaching middle school math for 13 years in the Ysleta ISD. In 2001, David moved to Tempe, AZ, and taught MS math and science through 2005. He became addicted to crack at the beginning of July 2004 and was arrested on 3.1.2005 for possession of crack after leaving school in the early morning to score some crack for later after work. In 2010, he was going to commit suicide, and that’s when he saw the light of the Holy Spirit on 12.24.2010 at midnight mass - the radiant light that changed his life forever.
