Mike Geier, Former Chief of Police of Albuquerque PD, Exhibits Powerful Memoir at San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books

Mike Geier spent over 40 years working in law enforcement and served as the Chief of Police of the Albuquerque PD. Like many former police officers, he is deeply concerned with the recent controversy surrounding the people in blue. That was why he has been exhibiting his story, The Blue Journey, at a number of book fairs around the world. Recently, it was just seen at the 7th San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books.

“This is a must read for all Albuquerque Police Officers and any cop. It will remind you of your own experiences different but the same. For anyone outside Police Work it is a true look inside that Thin Blue Line. I am a retired A.P.D. Sergeant and Mike worked for me when he first came to A.P.D. I immediately recognized his worth. It is ashame how politicians across the nation are destroying Law Enforcement and their citizens’ quality of life with it. Thank you Mike, watch your six.” – Paul Heh

In a time where controversies surrounding the actions of America’s police officers are coming under renewed scrutiny, many former officers and chiefs feel compelled to share their own stories to prevent the whole nation from adopting a skewed perspective on their life.

That’s certainly one of the goals of Mike Geier, the former Chief of Police of the Albuquerque PD. To that end, he published a memoir titled “The Blue Journey: Memoirs of a Cop’s Cop.” The book was recently exhibited at the 7th San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books. The exhibit was made possible with the support of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.

“The Blue Journey” covers Geier’s career in law enforcement as it spans over 5 decades. This include not only his work at the APD, but also in Rio Rancho, New Mexico and sub-urban Chicago. Aside from being chief, he had served in various team leadership positions in areas such as Metro Anti-Crime, Gang Unit, Crisis Negotiations, Violent Crimes, and Emergency Response. He was also responsible for instituting and implementing a number of reforms, including the use-of-force policy under his command.

He is not afraid to tell it all: the good, the bad, and the tragic. The reality faced by the nation’s police officers and the challenges they often face (both from above and in the streets) are numerous and fully detailed in his own experiences.

By exhibiting his memoir at events like the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books, he hopes that more people would come out with a better, more holistic understanding of life wearing the badge.

After the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books, Mike Geier’s “The Blue Journey: Memoirs of a Cop’s Cop” is still slated to exhibit at a number of other book events happening soon. Get the book on Amazon.
