“I served five years in the legion about 50 years earlier than the author, but I still recognized much of what he is writing about in this book, especially his first legion breakfast ;-)” – Hercule Poirot, Amazon customer

War veteran Richard Trevino, Jr.’s “Legion: A Texan’s Adventure in the French Foreign Legion” will be displayed by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Guadalajara International Book Fair. The book fair will occur from November 25 to December 3, 2023, at the Expo Guadalajara Convention Center, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

The Guadalajara International Book Fair, or “Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara” (FIL), is the most important cultural annual event of its kind in the Spanish-speaking world. This event is hosted by the University of Guadalajara, providing an optimal business environment for the professionals and exhibitors of the book industry. It is the second largest book fair after the Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) in Germany“.”

“Legion” recounts the story of a man who had his feelings bottled up for way too long. He was not able to tell his family why he did the things he did and was not able to recoup the lost years away from the people he loved. It follows Richard Trevino Jr., the author, as he takes the readers to when he served in the U.S. Army and then the French Foreign Legion.

Trevino wrote “Legion” to reminisce about his adventures in the military. One of his goals in writing the book is to apologize to his family for leaving them without even saying anything when he joined the French Foreign Legion. The author, who craved adventure, does not have any regret in seeking what he loves.

Author’s Biography

Born in the oil and ranch region of South Texas in a small town called Alice, the birthplace of Tejano music, to a poor working-class family. There was no work for his family in Alice in the early 70s, and subsequently having to move to San Marcos, which is on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, looking for better jobs and better opportunities for the small family. As a young boy, he yearned for adventure and always wanted to see the world. Having to grow up as a ranch hand gave him the strength and determination to be persistent in life. To adapt to any situation and to move forward in life no matter what the situation. Qualities that he would need later in life after joining the US Army and the French Army. From the hills of Korea to the deserts of Africa he has roamed. You know to some people he’s the unluckiest guy in the world but to others, he’s the luckiest S.O.B. you’ll ever meet. Either way, you see it he is Richard Trevino Jr. from a small town in Texas and he is very happy that readers are taking the time to read his little story about his life.
