Sultry, Suspenseful Rock-n-Roll Murder Mystery by Jennie Short Exhibited at San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books 2023

For many years, Jennie Short has nurtured a love for romance and musical themes in stories. And recently, she’s finally achieved a personal milestone by publishing her first book “Remember the Night.” She had even managed to secure an exhibit spot for this book at the recently-concluded San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books. Blending murder mystery with the vibe of 80s rock-n-roll, Short hopes her new book proves to be a delight for fans of both,

“Love is such a loaded emotion; it can lift us up in an inhale of breath and bring us to our knees with the exhale.”

For newly published authors like Jennie Short, the 7th Festival of Books by the San Diego Union-Tribune was a great opportunity to reach larger audiences.

But on the other hand, it was still an impressive step taken after the many years she had spent writing her book on the side. For those who know her, Short was just a longtime municipal court clerk at the City of Salisaw. Her novel, however, fully expresses her many passions for romance, mystery, music and more.

Her book’s title is “Remember the Night,” and it was exhibited at the festival with the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.

Set in 1980s Los Angeles, the novel spins together a number of genres, including sensual romance, a twisty murder mystery, and the musical atmosphere that characterized the decade. Its main protagonist is private detective Rebecca Rockwell, who has a growing reputation for solving many missing person cases.

This time, though, her newest case takes her to the scenic Sunset Strip and further into the world of colorful rock-n-roll nightclubs. There she meets the rising rock star John Stone. But as she finds herself getting in a little too deep into her undercover role (and John himself), the villain of the story has been weaving them into ever deadlier traps.

And at the Union-Tribune’s Festival of Books, plenty of visitors got the chance to see whether Rebecca and John make it out in the end. For anyone who want a copy of “Remember the Night” by Jennie R. Short, head to Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
