“Insanity and Grace: A Memoir” by Dr. Ilana Halina Oren was exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books. The book festival was held at the University of San Diego, San Diego, CA, last August 19, 2023.

ReadersMagnet displayed Dr. Oren’s “Insanity and Grace” alongside several other titles at the book festival. The company aims to help independent and self-published authors gain exposure for their works so they could expand their audience and connect with readers, fellow authors, booksellers, and other stakeholders of the publishing industry.

“Insanity and Grace” is a willing look at Dr. Ilana Halina Oren’s skeletons in the closet. For the last thirty years, she was honored to work with patients who trusted her with their secrets and were willing to heal the emotions of shame engulfing their lives. This time, she would like to share her own story.

The skeletons in her closet include her experience as a child of survivors of the Holocaust, the last remnant of the Polish Jews who immigrated to Israel in 1957; her grief of losing friends in the Six-Day War; and her proud experience of serving in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).

Throughout her life, she was perplexed by the myth of the “chosen people.” So, what were these people chosen for? Her search for meaning led her to trust her higher power, Emanuel – the Lord. This book shares the gripping story of the history of the Jewish people.
