Patrick L. Zeigler Jr.’s “Both Ends of the Barrel: From the Troop Surge to Fort Hood; A Dozen Years in the Global War” will be displayed by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the Printers Row Lit Fest 2023. The book fair and literary festival will take place at Printers Row Park in South Loop, Chicago, Illinois, on September 9-10, 2023.

Organized and hosted by the non-profit Near South Planning Board (NSPB), the annual Printers Row Lit Fest is the largest outdoor literary festival in the Midwest. More than 100,000 visitors are expected to attend the two-day book fair and literary festival. The book event features book exhibits, book signings, panel discussions, staged readings, and various other programs for adults, young adults, and children.

“Both Ends of the Barrel” recounts the author’s experiences during the 2009 Fort Hood terrorist massacre. One of the soldiers on duty turned his back on his troop and shot everyone in sight. The book narrates how everything went from the perspective of the staff sergeant, who would eventually become the most critically injured survivor of the mass shooting.

The author’s goal is to dedicate his life to helping others overcome their PTSD from traumatic experiences. The book also aims to memorialize the 13 victims/comrades who perished during the shooting.
