Pastor Maria Taylor was born and raised in the District of Columbia metropolitan area. Born to Bernard and Mary Barnes, she is the baby of five brothers and sisters. She graduated from Suitland Senior High, went on to college, and worked at the same time. At the age of 16, she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and at the age of 19, she received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in unknown tongues.

She was called to be a pastor at that time. At 23, she met the man she loves dearly, Keith Taylor, with whom she is married today. They have been married for 26 years and have two beautiful daughters, Natalie and Ashley, both of whom are loved dearly. Pastor Maria Taylor has received her bachelor’s, MBA, and MAFM degrees from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing CPA certification. At the age of 38, the call to pastor was getting stronger for Keith and Maria, and in agreement, they opened Covenant Worship Center North Church in 2002.

They desired a spiritual covering for the ministry and sought Bishop T.D. Jakes, whom they admire. They were ordained, had hands laid on them, and had communion given to seal and confirm the call God has on their lives in October 2002 at the Potter’s House Pastoral Alliance Conference (PHIPA) under Bishop Jakes. They pastored from 2002–2006, and due to many tests and trials, they closed the doors.

Then, in July 2013, Pastor Maria re-launched Covenant Worship Center North Church, where she is the Senior Pastor, under the covering of her husband, and submitted herself and her ministry to PHIPA again. Pastor Maria Taylor also owns her own business, MNA Services, LLC, which is a bookkeeping, tax, and payroll company specializing in helping small businesses.
