Ran Toler’s Touching Children’s Book About Family’s Treasured Teddy Bear to Exhibit at the Printers Row Lit Fest 2023

Toler has worked as a professional technical writer for over 30 years. When his wife asked why he has never taken his pen to write a novel, he simply said there was never anything that made him want to.

However, that was until the day his wife brought out an old cedar chest full of childhood heirlooms. The one that stood out the most was an old teddy bear.

Finally hit with inspiration, he wrote “The Good Old Days of Delbert C. Bear, Esq” by piecing together the history of the bear, the life it had with the little girls who once carried him, and the fond memories the toy represented.

The book itself talks about Delbert waking up after being stored away for so long and then reminiscing about his time with his previous owner Abigail. Readers join him on his journey, recalling incredible outdoor adventures, trips to the theme park, and more.

Ran Toler wrote this book at the urging of his wife. They talked about it several themes, and the teddy bear idea came to him when he saw her childhood teddy bear in her cedar chest. Toler decided to have the bear become alive when Abigail sees him on a shelf in a toy store.
